W3C adopts HTML 5

"The W3C will develop and release a new version of HTML which will be called HTML 5." ... "What does this mean for webmasters? Firstly, It confirms that the approved path for HTML development is towards HTML 5 and not XHTML 2.0. It also confirms that the development process of HTML 5 is still in its early stages, and we are unlikely to see HTML 5 published before 2010 - so HTML 4.01 will remain the best option for the moment."
