Why Search Marketers Can Safely Ignore Cuil
"Several people wrote to me asking me to review Cuil, the hot new search engine that everyone is talking about. Except me. I've explained in the past that I am not expecting any new search engine to come along to dethrone Google. But people persisted, "This one is really different!" So I looked and I listened and I read, and I'm sorry folks, but I don't know what all the fuss is about." More ... By: Mike Moran, Search Engine Guide
Cuil Launches A Massive Search Engine with an index of more than 120 billion web pages, making them arguably the most comprehensive search engine on the web. I found it very useful and practical. The way it displays the search results is friendly and interesting.
"As a small-business owner with a Web site, you know that one of the most important things you can do is get your site ranked high on a search-results page at Google, MSN and Yahoo!. But how to achieve that high ranking? You've learned all about keywords, link building and unique page titles. The question is, how do you do it? Tips and Tricks: An Introduction to Google’s Webmaster Central
"Any webmaster should be aware of the tools available to them. This is especially true for Google’s Webmaster Central, a collection of tools that allow you to better understand your website and give you more information about it. One of the first things you will notice when you go to Google Webmaster Central is that you can check if your site is being indexed by Google. The site status wizard allows you to see when your site was last crawled and if it’s in Google’s index." - A great post by Tamar Weinberg, Here!

There is a discussion at Search Engine Roundtable Forums noting that new pages now have a grey color in the Google PageRank Toolbar score. (Take a look at webfaqt.com's new entering page for instance).
In the past, there were explanations that new pages normally received a white bar and not a grey bar. In the past, a grey score in the toolbar meant keep away, while white meant the page was not yet indexed but would be.
It is a good question brought up in forum recently. Danny Sullivan at Search Engine Land just wrote an incredible authoritative guide to PageRank and highlights some points that still need to be reiterated: PageRank really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things and it is only one measure of "importance" for your site but isn't updated all too often and thus shouldn't be considered heavily.
Still, a bunch of tools were offered to check the PageRank of a site, and Tamar Weinberg will be linking to them below:
Live PageRank: Checks your PageRank on all of Google's datacenters Verify PageRank: Checks your PageRank and verifies its legitimacy Fake PageRank Detection Tool: This one is currently not working, but the coder says he's trying to get it fixed so I'm linking to it in hopes that he will. Check Fake PageRank: This tool also checks your PageRank and verifies if it is valid. Read More Here ...
