Building Up A Community
By: Taban Khajehnassiri

Living in the era of information and communications obliges us to take this opportunity - having access to on-line resources and information - seriously that we have to direct ourselves to a given target on the net. This will force us to learn more and more about the net happenings, its new technologies and services, rules and regulations and so on.

Undoubtedly the most important role man has played since civilizations appeared on this planet has been the attempt for building up basic small communities with perhaps one goal in mind: "We have to survive! Alone, it is impossible!".

On the Internet, it is also a must for all users to locate, find or in most cases build up a community in order to shape a set of targets for being on-line and carrying on the surfing.

Here, the mose immediate explanation or excuse for this can be the truth that we are using Internet as a means of communication and Living in the era of information and communications obliges us to take this opportunity - having access to on-line resources and information - seriously that we have to direct ourselves to a given target on the net. This will force us to learn more and more about the net happenings, its new technologies and services, rules and regulations and so on.reaching out to the information resources fastly and accurately.

In Webfaqt, with this main purpose in mind, we have initiated building up a small but targeted community beside a streaming river of some other Iranian web sites on the Internet. We want to be informative and active. In this regard, we have to be updated.

Webfaqt needs your co-operation, your news and unfortunately it sounds that webmasters do not take this activity seriously. Setting up a web site on the net is not enough for a site owner to promote products and services on-line and for attracting viewers there must be a policy, there must be a powerful media to be used. Webfaqt is now a community on the Internet with less than 1000 members. But, surprisingly, it sounds that our members do not intend to talk (or write!) about their own community or their expectations from other communities though we have provided enough space for their postings. They have surely received our postings each week, but they mostly tend to be silent.

Inhabitants of this small community on the net have many things in common, I am certain. What do we want from Iranian Web Sites? What kind of information do we need on-line? What else can be found in a given Iranian Web Site? What do you think about the designs and layouts of such newly added web sites on the World Wide Web? Please let us know your views and news. Write to the editor of this E-mag and send your articles to be featured. Criticize and scrutinize all available Iranian web sites on the net, specially those we have mentioned or introduced in our previous issues. Let's make this community an active one, not a passive! What do you expect from an on-line community? What is your definition on this? What is the destiny of a community - or a project - received rare inputs, poor outputs, no (or rare) feedback?!
