I Did It My Web - Always Control, Always Guidance ...
By: Taban Khajehnassiri

This brief article first published electronically as the editorial of WWN 26 Aug 2000. It describes how I started this based on a single thought, a real single idea.

So you can enjoy the rest of your life when you say it and sing it deep from the bottom of your heart: "Yes, I did it my way ..." - First I started with a single idea, then I got a free space from a web hosting company on the Internet. I used my own thoughts, my own HTML codes, my own Bold and Beautiful :) texts, graphics and designs, I used my own (key) words, music, audio and video (clips), then I used javascripts, I used frames and forms and I did it all to form my web. And I traveled each and every information highway to learn what I have to and more ... much more than this, I added my site to Search Engines, to find more and more viewers for my web site, and then I started this newsletter to help filling a gap in the Iranian IT services as far as I am able to, and more ... much more than this, I spent considerable time on checking out my log files, answering e-mails and phone calls to keep my web living and going. But now ... I have to say I can enjoy the rest of my life on the net because I believe the success of a web site, just like the success of a life time is the (web) way we want to take, be on or see through. Yes ... it was my web ... and ... "I did it my way".

Our celebration of "two years publishing a free newsletter (Aug 01) gave us another chance to continue and expand our services to our subscibers and readers and also gave us credit that we are here on the net to stay and maintain the service an active one, always updating and new for the Iranian Community throughout the world and online.

First, when we started our activity, our primary motto was "Stay With Us ... We Stay With You ..." but I don't know from where I found it, perhaps somewhere in my mind, and I hope so. But I would like to share with you another motto which gave us the chance to establish and initiate a new as well as serious planning with success for our newsletter: "Always Control ... Always Guidance ..." You may ask how it works? I have to bring up some examples here and let me say: You have a car, a house, a job (even a husband or a wife), and you want to keep, care and so on. Without control, without guidance, there are a vast number of things happening ahead, sometimes good, sometimes bad. When you are driving a car on a road, you have to control and lead your car to where you want to go, right on the right path. If you loose control, you may get out of your path, find yourself in the middle of nowhere or in some bad cases or situations, in a hospital watching TV and your leg hanging! Now, you have a web site on the Internet, just like a car, a house or a job. On the top of your business plan, write down this: "Yes, Always Control ... Always Guidance ..." You'll see, you will be there on the top 10 most wanting and most visiting https. Here by control, I mean checking out each and every little things about your web site, your layout, your text materials, your graphics, your hyper links, your forms and many many other little things, and with the guidance, I mean guiding the content towards your viewers' needs. On your web site, you must play the role of a tour leader, showing sights and sounds, exotic places here and there on the web, providing your tourists with updated and comprehensive information. That is true, but I would like to change your mind. You are the webmaster, but you are not the one who controls or guide! People coming to your web site, with their feedbacks, they Always Control ... Always Guide you to where you have to go and ride. As a webmaster you have to be keep this in your mind, on your business plan. Your site is constructed by people and for people, as the webmaster you have to let them make the right guidance for the content created to answer their questions.
